How long have you been with Poshmark?
I opened my account in March 2014 but didn’t actually start using the app until Sept 2015.
What brands do you have in your closet?
I like to carry a wide variety of brands, but I do focus on name brand, designer and couture pieces. You’ll find brands like Ann Taylor and Nasty Girl; Coach, Burberry and Michael Kors; as well as YSL, Dior, Lanvin, Alexander Wang and Oscar de la Renta.
How do you create your cover shots?
I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but I just use a poster board from the dollar store. It’s a new style I’m trying. I like how crisp and clean it looks. Other than that, I just use my iPhone, natural lighting and maybe write the brand of the item on the photo.
How do you think your closet’s style separates you from other Poshers?
Unlike so many other poshers, I like to focus on ONE size, MY SIZE! You’ll see lots of 0’s and 2’s as well as XS and S. I think it makes it fun to shop my closet because if you’re this size, you’ll be able to create whole outfits from my closet. Also, when shopping the app I noticed there was a bit of a lack of smaller sizes, so I’d like to think I’m filling a need as well.
Share with us your favorite Poshmark Story:
I have two! The first was I had a fab dress I had bought for myself, and was IN LOVE with it, but I didn’t fit me right. (I’m so dang short) I had reluctantly posted it to sell, and an AMAZING user (@kasidy101) bought it. She not only gave a rave review, but she also posted a pic of herself in it and told me how much she loved wearing it. It really made my day knowing the item found a loving home.
My other story is not about a specific event, but rather a span of a few months. I started poshing when I was diagnosed with cancer. I needed to downsize my wardrobe before moving home and I also needed some cash as I chose to take an time off work. My ability to fully commit to poshing was limited because of countless surgeries. During this time, everyone on the app was so incredible. I received so many prayers, words of encouragement and well wishes. It was so uplifting logging in and seeing these posts from women across the country. It was this support and sense of sisterhood that really got me hooked on the app and helped me keep my chin up during a very scary time.
What is one tip that you could give yourself that you wish you knew when you started?
When buying, read the sellers love notes first!! When selling, pick a theme and stick with it (the same background, a flower or accessory that’s in every post, etc.) Looking at my original closet layout I just cringe. I would carefully lay the item on any well lit surface, it was so chaotic looking! (and honestly, I’m still working on redoing those older cover shots!)
What do you do to stay healthy? (We like to hear creative ways!)
After my diagnosis, this has become SO important to me. I stay healthy in a variety of ways. I really try to focus on what going into my body; not only diet wise, but topically as well. I look for organic foods and natural beauty products. As far as staying active, I like to get creative! The gym makes me nervous because I’m SO TERRIBLE at it (literally, I’ve fallen off a treadmill before.) So, instead I enjoy standup paddle boarding, swimming, yoga, kayaking, barre, snowboarding, walking the dog and many other activities.
Favorite purchase off Poshmark?
Omg, SHOES! I have a pair of Sam Edelman suede ankle boots that I’m obsessed with and my Kate Spade glitter Keds!
