If you have never heard of The Fashion Maids, don’t worry you aren’t alone. This is due to the fact that the company had just launched a couple weeks ago and right now they are on fire! Figuratively speaking. Since their launch at the beginning of this month they’ve garnered over 6k followers and counting on the IG account alone! They are taking the worst part of sourcing and packaging it up and making it much easier for you. Sorry to say that there is no one that will come clean up your Posh closet for you, but will be pleased to find out they will changing the reseller market, which to me is a no brainer.
What is FashionMaids.com?
FashionMaids is a subscription service that caters to resellers like you and me. Now imagine, instead of getting a mystery box full of used clothes from another seller, you actually get a box full of clothes that are New With Tags. They work with stores and boutiques and buy off all their unsold inventory and create curated boxes for the fashion reseller. What I like about this idea, is that it’s curated. When you first sign up for an account, you fill out a questionnaire with all the possible details you want. If you sell more striped shirts, you can request for that even down to the sizes you sell mostly. So for those of you who have a closet of more vintage looking items, or if you’re more of a boho seller, then they create a box with those needs in mind.
What I like even more about this idea is that 1) If I am way to busy to shop or thrift, this is a no brainer for me. I can easily spend $200 at the thrift store and 12 hours of my day. But if I don’t have the time, this easily makes up for it. 2) This really elevates my closet sales. Imagine if all the clothes that you list were NEW with tags, this ups your sales on quality alone. Not to mention that the box is valued at $750, and you’d be getting 10 items in a box at $80 for a 1 time purchase or $60 a month for a yearly subscription, your profit margin is much larger. Keep in mind that $60 is only for the first 100 subscribers to their program (if you are one of the lucky 100, then you lock in the $60 rate permanently, but the price will go up). If you’re a die hard like me and interested in larger monthly quantities, they can definitely make that happen. They can customize a larger monthly service, all you would need to do is email their support team.
So I really wanted to try this out to l see what you’d actually get in the box. I was actually really worried because I am 110% a brands girl. I shop for specific brands and were these items gonna be do’s? or duds? So I ordered a 1 time $80 box and this is what I got:
I was very impressed at the selection I got. This is definitely a workable box, easily sellable, great brands and prime choices to resell. I chose to have more of a boho romantic selection and they did a great job matching my preferences. I selected sizes M & L and I got a nice mix of those. I do wish a couple of the mediums were my size because I would’ve just wanted to keep them. It’s also not bad as a clothing subscription box as well if you wanted to keep a few items for yourself as well (haha). Just keep in mind that the box will be well balanced with a mix of everything. As you saw in my box there was a variety brands and boutique items. This isn’t a box where you can swap out items back and fourth, you get what you get. But I don’t feel that would be of concern so much if you’re just reselling the items. I always live by the motto “Everything sells eventually”. The only qualm I have is that I wish the clearance stickers weren’t on there which you can see clearly in the video, other than that I can take that stuff off myself.
The next go around I probably would do a box just in my size so that I could model them (or most likely keep them it seems), I think one of the hard parts when you’re thrifting is that something that’s so cute is most likely not your size, and when someone asks you to model something…and you’re like…”nah dude. I can’t today. I’m. like. Super pregnant with a food baby 👶 RN”. So to do that I would put specific notes in the comments section of the questionnaire on whatever sizes you want, especially in denim or dresses. God I hope these guys get into shoes and bags next! lol
